Ingredients

200g White Basmati rice
1 Large white onion
20g Garlic powder
5 Medium sized white mushrooms
50g Tumeric powder
30g Vegan butter (Optional)
Oil
Salt
*Adjust amount of ingredients to suit the number of portions

Most local supermarkets will sell plant based alternatives to dairy and meat products or try your local health food specialist store.

Method

1. Boil rice according to instructions.

2. Chop the onion & mushrooms, lightly fry on medium heat in a small amount of oil (about a tablespoon) & butter (butter optional).

3. When the onion has slightly started to brow add the tumeric & garlic powder to the frying pan and stir.

4. Drain and add the cooked rice and continue to stir on a low heat until the rice is golden yellow, you can add more tumeric for a brighter colour and richer taste.

You can add anything else to this dish and simply mix in the extra ingredient's you wish to use.
